Southern Minnesota is becoming an increasingly diverse region of Minnesota. Muslims from all corners of the globe
are
among the most diverse and fastest growing population segment of the immigrant community in the Greater Mankato
Area.
The Muslim community in South Central Minnesota is well represented in all walks of life of the community in which
they live: student body and faculty in area colleges and universities; medical and nursing staff in local hospitals;
staff of non-profit and social service organizations and in the general population.
As the Muslim population in the Greater Mankato Area and surrounding communities grows so is the need to meet its
spiritual needs. The Greater Mankato Area Muslim community had established and maintains two mosques in the area.
Mankato Islamic Center, serves as a hub for area Muslims to meet, pray, receive spiritual guidance, and discuss
community affairs. As such this mosque is more than a house of prayer. It is an essential institution for all
Muslims
in South Central Minnesota practice and preserve our religious and believes and values.
We are currently in the middle of a fundraising campaign to renovate the entire building to better serve the Muslim
and non-Muslim communities in the area. We kindly ask you to generously contribute to the fund to renovate this
building and improve a place of worship and cultural center for the Muslim community in Mankato and surrounding
communities.
